Our Profile

The Boys & Girls Club of Albany has been serving Albany and the surrounding community since 1966 and are continuing to expand in effort to meet the needs for our services.

Our Mission

To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

What The Boys & Girls Club of Albany Offers

Fun!
Rule number one for almost everything that happens at the Club is that it must be fun.

A Safe Place
The Club is a safe place where kids and teens can come to enjoy themselves and their friends.

Opportunities
Club members have the opportunity to learn, grow, give back to the community, discover their needs, set goals, and meet new friends.

A Full Schedule of Great Activities
Games, tournaments, billiards, arts & crafts, dances, sports, leadership and community service clubs, music, discussion & support groups, school help, and computer classes.

Outreach and Services for Teens
A teen drop-in center, opportunities to volunteer and become a peer leader and mentor, counseling, crisis intervention help, and support groups.

The Club provides diversified activities that meet the interests of all young people.  Core programs encourage activities with adults, peers, and family members that enable kids to enhance self-esteem and fulfill their potential.  Based on the physical, emotional, cultural, and social needs and interest of boys and girls, and recognizing developmental principles, the Club offers diversified program activities in five equally important areas.

Character and Leadership Development
We empower young people to support and influence their community, sustain meaningful relationships, develop a positive self-image, participate in the democratic process, and respect their own and others' cultural identities.

Education and Career Development
We enable young people to become proficient in basic educational disciplines, apply learning to everyday situations, and embrace technology to optimize employability.

Health and Life Skills
We develop young people's capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals, and develop the skills to live successfully as self-sufficient, contributing skills.

The Arts
We enable young people to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of visual and tactile arts and crafts, performing arts, and creative writing.

Sports, Fitness, and Recreation
We develop fitness, positive use of leisure time, skills for stress management, appreciation for the environment, and social and interpersonal skills.

Annual Auction - April 14, 2007
Almost 100 live items to be auctioned including many trips, dinners, and services plus a gym full of flowers, and 400-500 other silent auction items. The theme this year is “Diamonds Are Forever”, since we are dedicating our fundraising efforts toward the completion of the ball field complex on Oak Street. This project includes the construction of two fields with dugouts, bleachers and scoreboards, a multipurpose field, concessions & storage, restrooms, playground, lighting and irrigation, and off-street parking. A successful auction that raises $500,000 will assure that we can finish the project in 2007. Call the Club for ticket pricing and table reservations. Let’s hit a homerun for kids!
