Symptoms of Autism
There are
multiple signs of Autism, but they could be hard to spot. If you
notice any unusual behavior in your child, it would be a good idea
to get it checked out by a pediatrician. The following are signs of
Autism . . .
No facial expression
of joy by age 6 months or after
No speaking by 16 months of age
No "baby talk," or babbling, by 12 months
of age
Loss of speech/social skills of any kind
at any age
Child doesn't imitate others
What Autism is not
Autism sometimes gets confused with other disorders that have
behaviors like it.
Tourette's Syndrome - Uncontrollable motor and/or vocal tics
OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) - Having
an obsession with keeping things organized.
Asperger's Syndrome - Very similar to Autism,
but language development is about normal.
Rett's Syndrome - Occurs only in girls. Most
symptoms are associated with Autism.
Prosopagnosia - Unable to recognize faces.
