8. Sea otter fur is the thickest fur of any animal. It has about 1 million

hairs per  inch -- a person has only about 20,000 hairs on his or her whole head.

9. Each year, about  27 million animals in America are used in

research, testing, and education. Over 2 million ani­mals are killed in dissection classes.

10. Wisconsin made animal cruelty a felony offense

 in 1986. Since then, 27 states have passed similar laws.
